The HL7 Integration Engineer (IE) for the Canadian region oversees all technical aspects of Synapse product HL7 integration, from installation, configuration, validation phases to product go-live, across all Synapse MI products. This role demands expert-level knowledge in medical informatics, IT infrastructure, medical imaging industry, and clinical workflows. Strong communication skills and customer satisfaction focus are essential, especially in dynamic multi-vendor healthcare environments. The IE will work closely with support teams, vendors, and customers to ensure seamless integration and documentation maintenance.

🛠️ Job Description & Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bilingual: Fluent in both written and spoken French and English

Core Duties

  • Collaborate with the MI Project Management team to deliver high-quality Synapse solutions
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for HL7 implementation projects across Synapse products
  • Perform enterprise-level projects: data migrations, interface integrations, and data conversions
  • Integrate Synapse MI with third-party healthcare systems such as EMR, PACS, RIS, HIS, VNA, etc.
  • Follow internal communication protocols, including comprehensive documentation design and updates
  • Stay current with new Synapse and third-party products, especially Canadian healthcare systems
  • Participate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and contribute to internal knowledge sharing
  • Mentor peers and transfer knowledge through training and presentations
  • Independently lead technical projects, ensuring high customer satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, FDA, and ISO standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation, review periodically, and publish updates

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with technical support, end-users, vendors, and administrative staff throughout the order-to-remittance process
  • Develop and foster strong communication lines with stakeholders
  • Participate in team meetings, testing, and continuous process improvement initiatives

🎓 Qualifications

  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, documenting, and executing complex technical projects
  • Expert understanding of healthcare IT, including radiology, cardiology, RIS, VNA, and clinical workflows
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 4-5 years’ HL7 integration experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
  • Deep knowledge of HL7 v2 (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, DFT, MDM), DICOM, FHIR, and IHE profiles
  • Experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc., especially within Canadian healthcare context
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Lua, JavaScript, Python) and interface engines (e.g., Rhapsody, Mirth, Iguana)
  • Solid understanding of databases (SQL, Oracle), networking, and healthcare workflows
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and project management skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and work independently
  • Bilingual in English and French (preferred)

Salary ranges from $89,646.00 to $116,700.20 depending on experience, plus a 10% bonus opportunity.
