We are seeking a skilled HL7 Integration Engineer to lead the technical integration of Synapse products within the Canadian healthcare environment, delivering top-tier customer satisfaction through expert knowledge and exceptional communication.
Position Overview 📝
The HL7 Integration Engineer (IE) for the Canadian region oversees all technical aspects of Synapse product HL7 integration—from installation and configuration through validation and go-live—for all Synapse MI products. This role demands expert-level understanding of medical informatics, IT infrastructure, medical imaging, and clinical workflows. Additionally, the HL7 IE plays a vital role in ensuring outstanding customer service by effectively communicating within project teams and with clients.
The ideal candidate will be adept at working in a dynamic, multi-vendor healthcare environment, staying informed on healthcare IT trends, regulations, and hardware/software products. Interaction with technical support, vendors, end-users, and various internal groups is essential for successful project execution.
Maintaining accurate documentation, engaging in knowledge transfer, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders are key responsibilities of this position.

Key Responsibilities 🔑
- Collaborate with the MI Project Management team to deliver high-quality Synapse product solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for HL7 implementation projects across Synapse product lines.
- Perform enterprise-level projects such as data migrations, interface integrations, and data conversions.
- Integrate Synapse MI products with third-party healthcare information systems (e.g., EMR, PACS, RIS, HIS, VNA).
- Adhere to internal communication standards and documentation protocols.
- Develop and maintain detailed solution design documentation and best practices.
- Continuously learn new products and participate in SME programs.
- Engage in internal activities, including team presentations and cross-functional projects.
- Mentor peers and transfer knowledge effectively.
- Work independently as the lead technical resource, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Comply with quality, regulatory, and standards requirements (FDA, ISO 13485, etc.).
Qualifications & Skills 🎯
- Expertise in designing, implementing, and executing complex technical projects within healthcare environments.
- Strong understanding of radiology, cardiology, RIS, PACS, VNA, and Synchronicity systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in HL7 (v2, FHIR), DICOM, and IHE profiles.
- Solid experience with databases such as SQL and Oracle.
- 4–5 years of HL7 integration experience in hospital settings.
- Hands-on experience with interface engines (e.g., Rhapsody, Mirth Connect).
- Fluent in French and English, both spoken and written.
- Familiarity with Canadian health record standards and imaging exchanges.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Lua.
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of healthcare IT infrastructure, including TCP/IP networking, Windows OS, and remote access tools.
Physical & Travel Requirements 🚶♂️✈️
- Sitting up to 75-100% of work time, with the ability to manipulate items and keyboards.
- Standing, talking, and hearing up to 75% of work time.
- Occasional lifting up to ten pounds (20% of the time).
- Visual acuity necessary for close work.
- Travel up to 25% may be required depending on business needs.

- Salary Range: $89,646.00 – $116,700.20 (based on experience) + 10% bonus opportunity.
