The University of California San Diego’s Literatures of the World section is hiring a part-time French instructor for the upcoming academic year, starting Fall 2026. Overview
The Literatures of the World section in the Department of Literature is seeking a part-time faculty member to teach three intermediate French courses during the 2026-2027 academic year.
Position Details
- Start Date: Fall 2026 Quarter
- Teaching Responsibilities: Three intermediate French courses (2A, 2B, 2C)
Primary Duties
- Designing syllabi and delivering instruction for 3 intermediate French courses (2A, 2B, 2C) annually
- Administering and grading placement exams during Winter and Spring quarters
- Reviewing and processing enrollment authorization requests via EASy during Winter and Spring quarters
- Holding office hours to support students
Qualifications
- Educational Requirements:
- Master’s degree in French, French Literature, French Linguistics, or a related field (Required)
- PhD in French, French Literature, French Linguistics, or a related field (Preferred)
- Experience teaching French language and literature courses

Compensation
Annual salary ranges from $26,616.38 to $28,237.88.
