Qualifications 🎓

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an applicable education field from an accredited institution.
  • Licensing: Holds or is eligible for Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) licensure and endorsements.
  • Scheduling: Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary to support school programs.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with FCPS curriculum, VDOE Standards of Learning, and contemporary educational trends.
  • Developmental Understanding: Insight into child and adolescent growth across diverse programs.
  • Technological Skills: Ability to integrate digital tools to enhance instruction.

Major Duties & Essential Functions 🚀

  • Instructional Delivery: Design and implement engaging lessons aligned with VDOE standards, covering a range of subjects and programs.
  • Lesson Planning: Prepare plans utilizing diverse instructional strategies such as direct instruction, inquiry-based learning, and projects to stimulate critical thinking and creativity.
  • Differentiation: Adjust instruction and materials to accommodate the diverse learning needs and interests of students.
  • Assessment: Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction, including specialized assessments as needed.
  • Resource Integration: Select and employ instructional materials and technology, maintaining equipment and learning spaces responsibly.
  • Classroom Environment: Establish routines and expectations that cultivate a safe and respectful atmosphere, supporting social-emotional growth.
  • Diversity & Equity: Promote cultural awareness and inclusion to ensure an equitable learning environment for all students.
  • Collaboration: Work with colleagues and support staff on lesson design, data analysis, and student support strategies.
  • Communication: Maintain effective channels with students, families, and community members, including beyond-class interactions when necessary.
  • Specialized Support: Contribute to individual education and behavioral plans in collaboration with service providers and staff.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation of student performance, attendance, and compliance.
  • Professional Development: Continually evaluate and improve instructional practices through ongoing learning and reflection.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements 🌳

This role functions within diverse school settings including classrooms, gyms, cafeterias, auditoriums, and outdoor areas. Regular activities involve walking, standing, and movement, with occasional climbing, crouching, or lifting up to 25 pounds. Use of computers, projectors, and other instructional technologies is essential. Strong verbal communication and active listening are critical for effective instruction and safety monitoring. Daily interaction with students, colleagues, and families, along with occasional travel and participation in field trips, are integral parts of this position. Flexibility to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic educational environment is necessary.

Salary & Contract Details 💼

Grade: TC-01 - FEU-IN

Starting Salary: $61,747 per year

Type: Teacher - Secondary Level

Contract Length: 195-day academic year

Part-Time Percentage: 67%

Pay Frequency: Monthly
