Position Description
We are seeking an experienced, creative, and collaborative middle school French and Social Studies teacher. The role includes teaching, advising, and participating in extracurricular programs, all aimed at supporting the development of the whole child. Candidates should possess a deep understanding of instructional strategies to guide every student toward realizing their potential as learners.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching 📚
- Teach three sections of French (nine classes per week) and two sections of social studies (10 classes per week).
- Monitor student progress to ensure mastery of course objectives and adapt instruction for diverse readiness levels.
- Attend weekly team meetings to coordinate curricula and discuss student progress.
- Provide standards-based assessments to evaluate proficiency levels and offer formal written feedback on student development.
- Maintain active communication with parents via phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings to keep them informed of their child's needs and achievements.
Advising 🤝
- Meet regularly with individual advisees to support their social-emotional and academic growth.
- Build and sustain ongoing relationships with students' parents to foster a supportive community.
Faculty Member Responsibilities 🎓
- Participate in shared faculty duties assigned by the Heads of School, including supervising or leading extracurricular activities during and after school hours.
- Chaperone at least one overnight school trip every two years in collaboration with colleagues.
Required Education and Experience 🎓
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in French or a related social studies field.
- Fluent proficiency in French.
- Previous teaching experience.
