About the Role

We are seeking highly skilled native Hebrew transcribers located in the US, Canada, or the EU to convert audio recordings of native speakers into precise, conventionally formatted written transcripts. Your work will support speech recognition, dialogue systems, and evaluation platforms for major AI labs. Audio content ranges from clear studio recordings to natural conversational speech in diverse real-world acoustic environments.

You will operate at the level of expert linguistic judgment. This is not simple data entry—your decisions regarding orthography, code-switching, speaker attribution, disfluencies, and non-speech events will directly influence the quality of AI models trained on your transcripts.

Project Details & Language Focus

• Language: Modern Hebrew (Ivrit), as spoken across Israel
• Speech Style: Everyday speech reflecting regional dialects from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Beersheba, Netanya, Rishon LeZion
• Script and Conventions: Right-to-left script, optional niqqud (vowel pointing) as per project standards
• Audio Conditions: From studio clarity to typical conversational noise

What You Will Do 📝

• Transcribe audio into accurate, time-aligned text following Perle’s style guide
• Apply conventions for speaker ID, overlaps, disfluencies, fillers, false starts, and non-speech sounds like laughter or background noise
• Make orthographic decisions tailored to dialectal, colloquial, and code-switched speech
• Identify ambiguous segments, uncertain speakers, and audio issues using project standards
• Self-review each submission to meet Perle’s quality benchmarks
• Collaborate with QA reviewers on edge cases, calibration, and style updates

Must Have 💡

• Native fluency in Modern Hebrew, with deep roots in Israel
• Strong reading and writing skills in Hebrew script, with or without niqqud
• Experience transcribing Hebrew-English, Hebrew-Russian, or Hebrew-Arabic code-switching
• Familiarity with both colloquial and formal Hebrew registers
• At least two years of professional experience in transcription, captioning, court reporting, media, translation, or linguistic annotation
• Proven accuracy at the word level under tight deadlines
• Comfort with web-based annotation tools and variable audio playback speeds
• Reliable internet, quality headphones, and a quiet workspace
• Ability to commit to weekly volume targets during active project phases

Nice to Have 🌟

• Background in Hebrew linguistics, translation, journalism, or media
• Experience working with Hebrew speech data annotations
• Knowledge of Yiddish, Arabic, or Russian for cross-lingual tasks
• Familiarity with IPA or other phonetic transcription systems
• Experience differentiating between verbatim and clean-verbatim transcription conventions
