Position: Bilingual Interpreter 🎙️

At CyraCom, we're on a mission to become a voice for those who need help communicating. Our phone interpreters facilitate language barriers between essential service providers and their clients—whether between doctors and patients or social service agents and customers.

What You'll Be Doing ✅

This role involves performing skilled consecutive, first-person interpretation. Work is conducted under direct supervision based on clear policies and procedures, with limited opportunities for independent judgment. Most problems are referred to supervisors, especially non-routine issues. Note: This description applies to all Interpreter roles regardless of target language(s).

Essential Functions (Major Duties & Responsibilities) 📝

• Provides meaning-for-meaning interpreting.
• Adheres to CyraCom's interpreter protocols as outlined in training and company policies.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to ethics and policies pertinent to interpretation.
• Attends all required interpreter training sessions, including those conducted by the CyraCom Quality and Development Department.
• Continuously expands vocabulary and specialized knowledge (medical, legal, social services, etc.).
• Utilizes standard office equipment such as telephones, computers, copiers, and fax machines.
• Works with MS Office applications like Outlook, Word, Edge, or other browsers.
• Demonstrates punctuality, follows directions, and completes tasks reliably and on schedule.
• Communicates effectively in both written and spoken English and target language.
• Works independently or collaboratively, demonstrating adaptability and professionalism.
• Interacts appropriately with co-workers, supervisors, and clients while maintaining confidentiality.

• Fluent in English and the target language.
• Excellent communication skills in both oral and written forms.
• Basic understanding of linguistics and cultural nuances.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
• Calm and effective response during emergency situations.
• Precise attention to detail and accuracy.
• Capability to work independently, exercise initiative, and follow company policies.
• Strong commitment to confidentiality.
• Ability to keep supervisors informed of issues.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and internet browsers.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment (fax, copier, telephone).

Qualifications ✅

• At least 18 years old.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in English and at least one other language, confirmed via our Language Checkup assessment.
