Job Description: Middle School Bilingual Educator (Grades 5-9) 🌏✏️
As a middle school teacher, you will be responsible for instructing Chinese-speaking students who are learning English. Your role involves delivering stand-alone English as a New Language lessons and integrated Chinese classes, utilizing various teaching strategies to create an engaging and effective learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruction & Teaching:
- Instruct middle school students (Grades 5-9) in English as a New Language using diverse methods such as lectures, demonstrations, and audiovisual aids.
- Teach integrated Chinese classes, fostering language development and cultural awareness.
- Curriculum & Assessment:
- Develop course objectives and outlines compliant with state and school district guidelines.
- Assign lessons, correct homework, and administer tests to evaluate student progress.
- Record results accurately and communicate progress to parents through reports.
- Classroom & Community Engagement:
- Maintain attendance records and uphold discipline within the classroom environment.
- Meet with parents to discuss student progress and address concerns.
- Participate in faculty meetings, educational conferences, and professional development workshops.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, English to Speakers of Other Languages, Chinese, or related field.
- Required Certifications:
- New York State Teaching Certification in English to Speakers of Other Languages.
- New York State Certification in Chinese for Grades 5-9.
