Join Our Team as a Driver for UNDP/PAPP in Palestine 🚗
UNDP is seeking a dedicated and reliable Driver to support the seamless operation of its Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP), playing a crucial role in facilitating transportation and logistical needs across diverse and sometimes hard-to-reach areas in Palestine.
Background
UNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP) was established through a UN General Assembly resolution on 20 December 1978, aimed at improving the economic and social conditions of Palestinians. Over the years, UNDP/PAPP has delivered over USD 1.7 billion in development aid.
The Palestinian Programmatic Framework (PPF) 2023-2025 envisions a future where all Palestinians enjoy a dignified life within a unified, peaceful, and free society. It emphasizes the concept of Transformative Resilience, focusing on:
- A cohesive Palestinian identity
- Self-reliance
- Ownership and leadership
Operationally, UNDP/PAPP is working across three priority areas:
- Democratic governance and quality services
- Inclusive economic opportunities
- Sustainable natural resources management
Current Project: Sawasya III
We are implementing the third phase of Sawasya III, a joint initiative with UN Women and UNICEF, aimed at promoting rule of law, justice, security, and human rights in Palestine. This five-year programme (2024-2028) seeks to:
- Support the Palestinian government in establishing an inclusive and responsive justice system
- Address needs across multiple areas including Gaza, West Bank, Area C, East Jerusalem, and Hebron
Role of the Driver
Under the guidance of the Operations and Services Manager and supervision of the Acting Dispatcher, the Driver will:
- Facilitate the daily work of the programme team through reliable transportation services
- Support movement of staff, officials, and partners across various locations
- Assist with logistical arrangements to ensure smooth programme operations
This role is vital given the geographical diversity and accessibility challenges faced in implementing Sawasya III, especially in areas like Area C, East Jerusalem, and Hebron.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure Reliable and Safe Driving Services 🚗
- Transport UNDP/PAPP staff, officials, visitors, and documents responsibly and securely
- Provide airport and bridge pick-up/drop-off for personnel and visitors, including visa and customs assistance
Promote Cost-Efficiency 💰
- Maintain accurate daily vehicle logs
- Assist in preparing vehicle maintenance plans
- Submit reports promptly to supervisors
Maintain Vehicle Upkeep 🛠️
- Perform or coordinate minor repairs and schedule major repairs
- Conduct routine maintenance like oil changes and tire checks
- Report any repairs needed immediately
Ensure Document and Supply Readiness 📄
- Keep vehicle documents (insurance, logs, maps) updated and accessible
- Maintain tools, spare parts, and MOSS items in the vehicle
- Follow protocols in case of accidents
Support Logistics and Event Operations 📋
- Deliver and collect official documents from various institutions
- Assist with organizing workshops, seminars, and meetings
- Support setup, registration, and closing activities
- Handle photocopying and office setup tasks when needed
The Driver must perform other duties as needed for the effective functioning of the Office and Organisation.

Educational and Professional Requirements 🎓
Education
Secondary Education is required.
Experience
- At least 2 years of relevant driving experience with a clean record
- Knowledge of driving regulations within Palestine
- Ability to travel within Jerusalem and the West Bank
- Computer literacy, including email use
Additional Skills (Desired)
- Experience with UN or international organizations is a plus
- Knowledge of web-based management and scheduling systems
- Basic vehicle repair skills
Language Requirements 🗣️
- Fluency in Arabic (required)
- Knowledge of English (required)
- Knowledge of Hebrew (an asset)
