Met Council, America’s largest Jewish charity dedicated to serving the needy in New York City, is seeking a dynamic leader to drive impactful advocacy, policy development, and strategic projects.

Position Overview

The Director of Government Relations & Strategic Initiatives is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing our mission through policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and campaign management. This role serves as the primary liaison to city, state, and federal officials and orchestrates multi-stakeholder initiatives that secure resources and influence policy to fight poverty and support the Jewish community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor legislation and build strategic relationships with governmental officials
  • Lead advocacy efforts and grassroots mobilization campaigns
  • Manage cross-functional initiatives and special projects
  • Communicate persuasively through briefs, speeches, op-eds, and digital content
  • Secure public funding and shape policy initiatives

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, or related; Master’s or JD a plus 🎓
  • Experience: 7+ years in government relations, advocacy, or strategic initiatives, including lobbying or staffing elected officials 🏛️
  • Existing network in NYC and State government
  • Knowledge of human-services funding and compliance
  • Media-savvy with proficiency in Hebrew, Russian, Chinese, or Spanish (a plus) 🌍
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment 🤝

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $105,000 - $120,000 annually 💰
