TieTalent Is Hiring A Data Scientist III
The Marcus Institute for Aging Research is seeking a skilled Biomedical Researcher with expertise in statistical and quantitative modeling, particularly in genetics and genomics ('omics') data applications, to advance cutting-edge aging research.
About the Role
Join our team as a Biomedical Researcher responsible for managing and analyzing complex omics data, developing bioinformatics pipelines, and collaborating on scientific research projects aimed at understanding aging and related phenotypes.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Management & Analysis: Support imaging, cleaning, manipulating, and analyzing omics datasets (genomics, epigenomics, gene expression, proteomics, metabolomics, microbiome).
- Bioinformatics Pipeline Development: Design, implement, and maintain reusable workflows within high performance computing (HPC) environments; integrate computational methods using cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud.
- Data Visualization & Reporting: Create visual representations of data, conduct exploratory analyses, and develop reports to communicate findings clearly to colleagues and collaborators.
- Research Collaboration: Work within biomedical teams to design and execute studies, assist in publication efforts, and disseminate scientific findings.
- Algorithm Development & Statistical Analysis: Develop algorithms for analyzing various omics data and conduct statistical assessments for association studies and causal inference.
- Software Customization & Support: Tailor analysis software to meet research needs and provide data analytic support for ongoing and secondary data studies.
- Funding & Mentoring: Assist in developing grant applications and contribute to educating and mentoring clinical colleagues and junior staff.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, genetics, systems biology, or related biomedical sciences.
- Experience: 2-4 years of professional experience in quantitative sciences, with a strong background in statistical modeling, bioinformatics, and genomics.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in statistical methods (regression, GLM, GAM, neural networks, etc.), genome-wide or epigenome-wide association analyses, and proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, SAS, or Matlab.
- Computing: Experience working with high-performance computing systems, Linux/Unix environments, and cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud preferred.
