Job Summary

Member Advocates are the primary point of contact at Clever Care, engaging with members, prospective members, providers, brokers, and vendors. You will:

  • Assist members with questions about benefits, eligibility, referrals, claims, and services.
  • Ensure member satisfaction through superior service and a professional demeanor.
  • Assess caller needs and determine the most effective course of action based on strong operational knowledge.

Functions & Job Responsibilities 📋

  • Educate members, families, providers, and caregivers about benefits and plan options.
  • Clearly explain benefits via in-person, email, fax, or phone communications.
  • Follow up with members to clarify issues, identify causes, and explain solutions.
  • Escalate complex member issues to management or other departments as needed.
  • Participate in member calling projects to support membership retention.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and job aids to maintain efficient operations, while offering suggestions for improvement.
  • Comply with all Federal and State regulations, including HIPAA guidelines.
  • Document transactions accurately in our systems and summarize actions taken.
  • Maintain an environment open to continuous coaching and feedback.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 📚

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of customer service experience, preferably in healthcare management or call center settings.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, Spanish, Thai, Khmer, or Japanese may be required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong active listening abilities.
  • Team player with collaborative skills.
  • Quick learner with a calm and courteous approach, especially when handling upset members.
  • Ability to multitask (listen, talk, and type simultaneously).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Typing speed: 40 WPM (preferred: 60 WPM).

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to work some weekends from October through March.

Wage Range 💵

$20.00 – $23.00 per hour

Physical & Working Environment 🌍

  • Must be able to travel as needed.
  • Operate a keyboard, mouse, phone, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Sit for extended periods; stand, reach, bend, lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Communicate ideas clearly to the public and staff.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office or remote setting with frequent staff and public contact.
  • May occasionally require irregular hours based on business needs.
