The Credit Middle Analyst role is a vital position supporting transaction processes and credit management at SMBC in New York, requiring bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English.

Compensation: The anticipated salary range for this role is between $67,000.00 and $80,000.00. The specific salary offered will depend on individual qualifications, experience, and current market analysis. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award.

Role Description

The primary function of this position is to manage day-to-day credit-related activities, including data processing, due date monitoring, documentation, and transaction closing.

Role Objectives

🔹 Transaction Support

  • Assist in transaction closing activities by coordinating with the Legal Department on contractual documentation following Credit Application approval.
  • Liaise with the Back Office to facilitate post-approval processing.
  • Handle requests related to the issuance of Standby Letters of Credit (L/C).
  • Respond to transaction-related requests from ARP customers.

🔹 Due Date Monitoring

  • Monitor expiration dates of security and collateral documents, such as Guarantee Letters and other collateral documentation.
  • Track credit facilities and lines.
  • Oversee financial statement submissions and covenant compliance.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience at a corporate bank or other financial institution.
  • Extensive hands-on experience and understanding of banking products including loans, standby letters of credit, derivatives, and trade finance.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment is preferred.
  • Japanese-English bilingual skills are required.
