Position: Chinese Speaking Community Educators - San Francisco (Cantonese or Mandarin)

At the Alzheimer’s Association, we are dedicated to providing programs and support services for patients, families, caregivers, and communities affected by Alzheimer's disease and related disorders in the San Francisco Bay Area. Role Overview

Community Educators serve as volunteer public speakers, delivering Alzheimer’s Association programs to Mandarin or Cantonese-speaking communities. They educate and spread awareness through in-person sessions or webinars, utilizing trained materials on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Effective communication and engaging presentations are key! 💬🎥

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Alzheimer’s Association’s curricula and position statements
  • Collaborate with staff to identify and coordinate educational programs targeting Chinese-speaking communities (Cantonese or Mandarin). This includes securing partners, scheduling, preparing presentations, and managing materials.
  • Serve as a presenter at chapter-scheduled educational events and conferences
  • Connect community members with additional Association services, including referrals to programs and our 24/7 Helpline
  • Complete all reporting and administrative paperwork accurately

Qualifications

  • Proactive and passionate about the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission ❤️
  • Bilingual in Cantonese or Mandarin
  • Successful experience in public speaking with strong presentation skills
  • Understanding of adult learning principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Comfortable using computers, email, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to network, collaborate, and build relationships with staff, volunteers, and community partners
  • Experience with dementia care—either as a family member or healthcare professional—is preferred
