Position Overview
Yu Ying is seeking passionate and experienced Chinese Lead Teachers (CLTs) to lead our students on an engaging language journey. As part of a collaborative faculty, you will create an inquiry‑based classroom environment that fosters curiosity and academic excellence. Essential Responsibilities
- Implement grade-appropriate IB PYP curriculum covering Chinese literacy, Social Studies, Math, and Science
- Lead the planning and execution of IB units of inquiry through Chinese, ensuring alignment with programme standards and school priorities
- Design and deliver transdisciplinary units integrating Chinese language within the IB framework
- Focus on developing students' conceptual understanding and transfer of ideas across contexts
- Review and refine Chinese curriculum using IB resources and expectations
- Collaborate with colleagues in planning, assessing, and moderating learning experiences
- Utilize local and global contexts to ensure relevance in Chinese learning activities
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and dynamic classroom and school culture
- Support oral language development across all content areas
- Maintain effective communication with families and work collaboratively in grade-level teams
- Supervise students actively during instruction, transitions, and activities to ensure safety
- Proactively monitor environments, enforce safety, and intervene when necessary
- Respond promptly and appropriately to injuries or medical concerns, following school protocols
- Document safety incidents accurately, notifying staff and families as required
- Implement all special education plans (IEPs, 504 Plans) with fidelity
- Participate in special education meetings and collaborative planning sessions
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Address students’ social-emotional and physical well-being following the Whole Child Model
- Promote IB mission and values, modeling internationally minded practices daily
- Perform other assigned tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Native‑level fluency in Mandarin Chinese is mandatory
- At least one year of experience as a lead classroom teacher or Chinese Teaching Fellow at Washington Yu Ying
