We are seeking an experienced Children’s Story Editor to help craft and refine original bilingual stories that resonate with and support our diverse communities. Role Overview 📝

As a seasoned Children’s Story Editor, you will collaborate closely with writers, narrators, artists, and our learning team to ensure stories are developmentally appropriate, linguistically rich, and culturally authentic. Your primary focus will be editing stories in Spanish, emphasizing language quality, narrative flow, and the needs of emergent readers.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities) ✅

• Edit and revise original Spanish and bilingual (Spanish/English) children’s stories for clarity, voice, and engagement
• Collaborate with authors, ranging from youth to adult community members, to support storytelling development
• Align stories with Bili’s literacy levels and storytelling style
• Provide developmental feedback and copyedits while preserving the author’s voice and cultural authenticity
• Review content for accuracy, tone, and appropriateness for young readers
• Support the creation of editorial guidelines and workflows as our story library grows
• Occasionally consult on voiceover scripts and story-related audio content

Who You Are (Qualifications) 🎯

• Experienced editor with 3+ years of editing children’s books (picture books, early readers, or educational content)
• Fluent in Spanish and English, with strong writing and editing skills particularly in Spanish
• Deep familiarity with Latine cultures and storytelling traditions
• Committed to language equity, heritage language preservation, and joyful learning
• Capable of balancing editorial precision with warmth and encouragement, especially with emerging writers
• Enthusiastic about participating in an intergenerational, community-driven project

Bonus Points If You 💡

• Have experience with dual language or bilingual education programs
• Are a heritage speaker or from a multilingual background
• Have worked with voiceover scripts or audio-first storytelling
• Are familiar with digital publishing or literacy-focused apps for children

Compensation 💵

This is a contract role offering an hourly rate between $50–65/hour, depending on experience, with opportunities for growth within the team.
