Summary

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of a certified tumor registrar, the Oncology Cancer Registry Assistant supports the cancer registry by performing assigned duties such as case-finding, trains to perform abstraction duties, as needed, and performs follow up activities to support the identification, collection and processing of reportable cancer cases to maintain compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation agencies and participating in data quality control activities. This position also provides coordination of the LifeBridge Health Oncology Service Line Cancer Conferences, including supporting the Cancer Centers' Clinical Leaders by providing agendas, attendance sheets and maintaining required documentation. Also coordinates with Continuing Medical Education Department to provide CME educational support for the conferences.

Requirements

• Preferred Associate's Degree Allied Health, Cancer Registry Management, or HIM Degree strongly preferred
• Required Other Medical Terminology Required
• Less than 2 years 1- 2 years in healthcare or clinical research settings. Candidates should have experience working in healthcare, office, HIM department, Cancer Registry Department or in a clinical research environment, etc. Education in a related allied health field may be allowed to be substituted for work experience. Required

Specific Requirements

Interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with staff, physicians and other visitors; responding to inquires and situations requiring ordinary courtesy and tact. Carroll Hospital Center is a minimal-lift facility which means that any moving or lifting of patients must be done with appropriate equipment and/or techniques taught through the Safe Lift program. Appropriate equipment or techniques must be used.
