Job Description

The Bilingual Business Development Specialist is responsible for generating sales and revenue from both new and existing customers. This role collaborates closely with Project Managers and Specialists to estimate, plan, prepare, and execute project activities. The specialist will support the project team to ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective project delivery in accordance with company policies. Additionally, they will coordinate with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, and other stakeholders — including Japanese-speaking clients — to promote and facilitate successful project outcomes. 🌐

Essential Functions

🌟 Promote Customer Relations

  • Contact and visit existing and potential clients to develop new business opportunities.
  • Build effective relationships with customers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that uphold company core values and exceed expectations.

🛠 Preconstruction Services

  • Review drawings and specifications thoroughly.
  • Estimate project costs and man-hours based on the owner's schedule.
  • Participate in preconstruction planning, focusing on budget and project schedule considerations.

📅 Project Start-up and Scheduling

  • Understand project requirements and contractual general conditions.
  • Ensure materials and subcontractor work are scheduled accurately and meet contractual and specification standards.
  • Verify all materials conform to customer expectations.
  • Attend site visits and inspections to monitor quality of work by subcontractors and vendors.

📝 Project Administration, Operations, and Close-Out

  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors and all related parties to meet project expectations.
  • Participate in routine project progress meetings to plan upcoming tasks.
  • Oversee the project closeout process, ensuring smooth handoff to the customer.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Engineering Degree (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) and/or Construction Management Degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the industrial or construction sector.
  • Working knowledge of construction contracts and terms.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with multitasking ability.
  • Proficiency in project cost estimation, considering labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and flexibility to adapt schedules as needed.
  • Ability to organize resources and manage multiple activities effectively.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and commitment to quality.
  • Proficient in PC use, including email, internet, and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing project logs and reports.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Japanese is essential. 🗣️

Working Environment & Travel

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) per safety policies and site requirements.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as necessary to meet project deadlines.
  • Travel up to 50% to job sites as required by project demands.
