Position Summary
Renaissance Economic Development Corporation (REDC), a reputable nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Business Advisor Support Intern to assist our Business Advisor team in serving small businesses across NYC. This internship offers an excellent chance for students or early-career professionals passionate about economic development, entrepreneurship, and access-to-capital initiatives to gain hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities (Support Role) 🚀
- Participate in outreach activities throughout NYC, including events, tabling, and engaging with community partners.
- Provide translation and interpretation (Mandarin Chinese ↔ English) during client meetings and workshops, as needed.
- Assist Business Advisors with client intake, scheduling, and follow-up communications.
- Support the preparation of loan application packages by gathering documentation, organizing files, and ensuring completeness.
- Maintain accurate client records in Salesforce and assist with data entry and reporting.
- Help develop and distribute workshop and marketing materials on topics such as financial literacy, digital marketing, and business planning.
- Conduct basic market research and collect community resource information to enhance REDC’s services.
- Shadow Business Advisors to gain insights into counseling, small business operations, and loan processing.
Who We're Looking For 🌟
- Current students or recent graduates in Business, Finance, Economics, Public Administration, or related fields (preferred).
- Interest in economic development, community impact, entrepreneurship, and small business finance.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; detail-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite; experience with Salesforce or CRM systems is a plus (training provided).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a mission-driven team.
- Deep commitment to supporting diverse low-to-moderate-income communities.
- Fluent in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) — **required**.
- Willingness to work in-person in Flushing with occasional travel across NYC boroughs.
