Position Summary 🎯

Are you passionate about helping small businesses succeed? As a Business Advisor (Mandarin Chinese Speaker) at Renaissance, you will play an essential role in supporting entrepreneurs across Flushing and NYC. You'll foster relationships with small business owners, provide crucial counseling, facilitate access to capital, and offer ongoing guidance to ensure their growth. This position allows you to leverage your business, finance, and community expertise to create a lasting impact while advancing your career in economic development and lending.

Reporting directly to the Senior Business Advisor/Team Leader, you'll build trusted relationships, craft loan applications, and deliver hands-on coaching. You'll also serve as a vital connector between local entrepreneurs and the resources they need for sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities 📝

• Build and nurture trust-based relationships with small business owners, community organizations, and referral partners.
• Provide one-on-one counseling on financial management, cash flow, and business growth strategies.
• Assist clients in preparing complete loan application packages for REDC underwriting.
• Manage and monitor a portfolio of small business loans, offering support after funding is secured.
• Conduct site visits to understand client operations and needs.
• Lead workshops on financial literacy, business planning, and growth strategies for entrepreneurs.
• Maintain accurate client records in Salesforce and ensure timely follow-ups.
• Engage in outreach and community events to enhance REDC’s visibility in Flushing.

What We’re Looking For 🔍

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, or community development.
• Knowledge of tax reports, P&L statements, and account statements.
• Experience in outreach, marketing, and service promotion to generate leads.
• Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (spoken and written).
• 2+ years of experience in small business counseling, lending, economic development, or entrepreneurship (preferred).
• Hands-on experience supporting or running a small business.
• Strong understanding of local businesses and resources in Flushing.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with finance and accounting principles (a plus).
• Proficiency in Salesforce, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Commitment to working with diverse, low-to-moderate-income entrepreneurs.
• Willingness to travel within NYC (Flushing, Manhattan, and other boroughs).
