🌟 Position Summary

Are you passionate about helping small businesses grow and thrive? As a Business Advisor (Mandarin Chinese Speaker) at Renaissance, you will play a vital role in supporting entrepreneurs in Flushing and throughout NYC. Your work will include providing counseling, facilitating access to capital, and offering ongoing guidance to ensure business success. This role allows you to leverage your business, finance, and community expertise to make a real difference while advancing your career in economic development and lending.

Reporting to the Senior Business Advisor/Team Leader, you will develop trusted relationships with small business clients, assist with loan applications, and deliver hands-on coaching. You will also serve as a bridge connecting entrepreneurs to essential resources for sustainable growth.

📝 Key Responsibilities

• Build strong, trust-based relationships with small business owners, community organizations, and referral partners
• Provide personalized counseling on financials, cash flow, and growth strategies
• Assist clients in preparing complete loan applications for REDC underwriting
• Manage and monitor a portfolio of small business loans, offering ongoing guidance post-funding
• Conduct site visits to understand client operations and needs better
• Lead workshops on financial literacy, business planning, and growth strategies for entrepreneurs
• Maintain accurate client records using Salesforce and ensure timely follow-ups
• Participate in outreach events and community engagement to enhance REDC’s presence in Flushing

🎯 What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, or community development
• Knowledge of tax reports, profit & loss statements, and account statements
• Experience in outreach and marketing, including service promotion and lead generation
• Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken)
• 2+ years of experience in small business counseling, lending, economic development, or entrepreneurship (preferred)
• Hands-on experience supporting or running a small business
• Strong familiarity with local businesses and community resources in Flushing
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of finance and accounting principles (a plus)
• Proficiency in Salesforce, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office tools
• Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Dedication to working with diverse communities and entrepreneurs in low-to-moderate-income settings
• Willingness to travel within NYC, including Flushing, Manhattan, and other boroughs
