✨ Position Summary

Are you passionate about supporting small businesses? As a Business Advisor (Mandarin Chinese Speaker) at Renaissance, you'll play a vital role in helping entrepreneurs in Flushing and across NYC succeed. Your work will involve counseling, facilitating access to capital, and guiding business growth.

This role allows you to leverage your knowledge of business, finance, and community to create meaningful change while advancing your career in economic development and lending.

Reporting to: Senior Business Advisor/Team Leader

You will build trusted relationships with clients, assist with loan applications, and provide hands-on coaching, serving as a crucial connector to vital community resources.

🌟 Key Responsibilities

• Build strong, trust-based relationships with small business owners, community organizations, and referral partners
• Provide personalized counseling on financials, cash flow, and growth strategies
• Support clients in preparing complete loan application packages for REDC underwriting
• Manage a portfolio of small business loans, offering ongoing guidance post-funding
• Conduct site visits to understand client operations and needs
• Facilitate workshops on topics like financial literacy, business planning, and growth strategies
• Maintain accurate client records in Salesforce and ensure timely follow-ups
• Participate in outreach events and community engagement to boost REDC’s presence in Flushing

🔎 What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, or community development
• Knowledge of tax reports, P&L statements, and account statements
• Experience in outreach and marketing to generate new leads
• Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken)
• 2+ years in small business counseling, lending, economic development, or entrepreneurship (preferred)
• Hands-on experience running or supporting a small business
• Deep understanding of local businesses and community resources in Flushing
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with finance and accounting principles is a plus
• Proficiency in Salesforce, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word)
• Ability to multitask, manage time efficiently, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to working with diverse communities and low-to-moderate-income entrepreneurs
• Willingness to travel within NYC (Flushing, Manhattan, and other boroughs)
