Position Summary 🌟

Reporting to the Senior Business Advisor/Team Leader, the Business Advisor (Korean Speaker) is responsible for cultivating relationships with small businesses, generating a pipeline of loan applicants, pre-screening loan eligibility, and providing tailored business coaching. Additionally, you will monitor your portfolio’s performance post-close.

This role primarily services clients in the Flushing (NYC), Long Island, and Westchester County areas, offering localized support to diverse entrepreneurs.

Key Responsibilities 📋

  • Build strong partnerships with small business owners, associations, and community organizations through outreach and local events
  • Offer one-on-one counseling on financial health and cash flow management
  • Assist clients with REDC loan applications for underwriting submission
  • Manage and monitor loan portfolios; follow up with clients needing additional support
  • Conduct site visits to understand client operations and needs
  • Organize and facilitate workshops for small business owners as needed
  • Maintain ongoing client contact to ensure satisfaction and identify financing needs
  • Accurately enter and track client information in Salesforce
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ensure punctuality and consistent attendance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications 🎓

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, or community development
  • Fluent in English and Korean
  • Knowledge of tax reports, P&L statements, and account statements
  • Experience in outreach, marketing, and generating leads
  • At least 2 years in small business counseling, lending, economic development, or entrepreneurship (preferred)
  • Experience managing a small business is a plus
  • Strong understanding of local businesses/resources in Flushing, Long Island, and Westchester County
  • Excellent client management and customer service skills
  • Proficient in finance, accounting, and analytical communication
  • Experience with Salesforce, Google tools, and MS Office
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Willingness to travel within the service areas and participate in onsite training for the first 3 months
