Job Overview

This role involves instructing students in Grades 1-6 within a bilingual and English as a New Language (ENL) program, providing tailored instruction and support to foster academic and personal growth. 📚🤝

Key Responsibilities

• Instruct students (Grades 1-6) as part of bilingual education and ENL programs for Mandarin-speaking students who are English language learners and have neurological learning difficulties.
• Provide English as a New Language support services to enhance language acquisition and proficiency.
• Plan curriculum and prepare lessons along with instructional materials tailored to meet individual student needs, considering state and school mandates as well as each student's developmental level—including physical, emotional, and educational aspects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders such as parents, administrators, testing specialists, and social workers to develop comprehensive Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Teach all academic subjects, creating engaging learning materials aligned with each student's abilities and interests.
• Utilize special educational strategies and techniques to foster sensory-motor, perceptual, linguistic, cognitive, and socio-emotional development.
• Motivate students through consistent reinforcement, continuous assessments, and ongoing feedback to support all areas of learning.
• Work closely with parents to empower them with skills to support their child's learning impairments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Students with Disabilities, or a related field.
• New York State Teaching Certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 1-6).
• New York State Bilingual Extension Certification in Mandarin is required.

Location & Jurisdiction

Positions are based in Brooklyn or Bronx, NY, within a New York City Public School under the jurisdiction of the New York City Department of Education. 🏫✨
