Position: Production Manager

Location: Sun Coatings plant, Tampa, FL

In this role, you will oversee shop floor operations, ensuring products such as latex and solvent-based paints, wallpaper adhesives, and caulks meet quality and customer service standards. You will report to the Plant Manager and lead efforts to optimize safety, quality, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Safety & Health Excellence: Foster a culture of genuine commitment to safety, guiding supervisors and teams beyond mere compliance.
• Ensure Product Quality: Monitor production quality, perform tests, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Production Scheduling & Staffing: Contribute to scheduling, develop staffing plans, and address barriers to meet production goals.
• Inventory Management: Coordinate with Planning and Purchasing to maintain raw material and finished goods inventories accuracy.
• Team Leadership & Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to improve team performance and morale.
• Operational Planning: Support the Plant Manager in developing annual capital and operational plans, including ideas, data, and resources.
• Performance Development: Establish performance goals, conduct follow-ups, and coach employees for continuous improvement.
• Workplace Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly production environment supporting a culture of excellence.
• Performance Monitoring: Set and track KPIs at the floor level, diagnose gaps, and implement process or system improvements.
• SOP Ownership: Ensure production SOPs are accurate, current, and compliant.
• Reporting: Provide regular operational updates to the Plant Leadership Team.
• Productivity Initiatives: Support company productivity goals through planning and execution.
• Change Management: Exhibit strong ability to manage the Plan/Do/Check/Act cycle during process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or related field (preferred)
• 5-10+ years’ experience in the specialty chemical or paint industry
• At least 5 years of management experience leading high-performing manufacturing teams with measurable results
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is essential
• Experience in new product development, plant scale-up, and technical support of launched products
• Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills
• Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulatory requirements in manufacturing
• Fluent in Spanish to effectively communicate across teams
