We are looking for a compassionate and bilingual Risk Assessor to provide critical safety assessments, service recommendations, and support to individuals escaping domestic violence — all within a flexible, supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities 🔍
- Risk assessments: Conduct Family Violence Option (FVO) evaluations, service, and waiver recommendations to promote independence and employment
- Safety Guidance: Provide clients with safety strategies, including information on legal remedies like restraining orders
- Safeguarding: Immediately alert the Director of any child safety concerns
- Emergency Intervention: Determine urgent shelter needs and coordinate with CSSA and domestic violence providers to secure safe housing
- Documentation: Record comprehensive, accurate records in electronic files, including assessments, reports, and logs
- Service Recommendations: Justify waiver needs or recommend alternative services clearly in reports
- Crisis Management: Recognize and respond to emerging client crises promptly
- Confidentiality & Ethics: Maintain client confidentiality and review signed confidentiality releases regularly
- Coordination: Communicate with DCP&P and CSSA regarding client safety, waiver, and service plans
- Community Resources Knowledge: Be familiar with domestic violence and sexual assault resources, especially for Spanish-speaking clients
- Team Engagement: Participate in monthly staff meetings and supervision sessions
Qualifications & Requirements ✅
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field and NJ Domestic Violence Specialist Certification, OR a Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field
- Experience: Minimum 2 years working directly with survivors of domestic violence
- Language: Professional fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal), with the ability to translate complex safety and legal concepts effectively
Additional Information 📋
This is a hybrid remote position based in Newark, NJ, with occasional local travel for assessments. Candidates must reside in Northern NJ. Mileage is reimbursed.
Salary & Application Details 💰
- Salary Range: $50,000 – $54,000 annually
- Sign-On Bonus: $2,500
