As a Bilingual Spanish Library Access Services Assistant, your primary role will be to assist Spanish-speaking patrons, focusing on material movement, circulation, and other key library functions. If you're a customer service superstar with a heart for community, join us!
Key Responsibilities 📝
- Check in book drops and shelve materials correctly.
- Process returns using Automated Materials Handling or SmartShelf systems.
- Assist patrons with account management, explaining policies clearly.
- Help patrons navigate library services, answer questions, and provide directions.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and instruct on the use of equipment such as computers, copiers, and check-out stations.
- Prepare meeting rooms and spaces for various programs.
- Support opening and closing procedures, ensuring safety and organization.
- Serve as a cultural bridge for the Spanish-speaking community, fostering inclusivity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements 💪
This role involves physical activity, such as lifting crates/books (up to 50 lbs), setting up tables and equipment, and prolonged standing, kneeling, reaching, and bending.

Qualifications & Eligibility ✅
Minimum Requirements & Skills 📝
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of customer service experience involving public interaction.
- Extensive knowledge of or experience with the Spanish-speaking community, including traditions and customs.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English and Spanish.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check (results reviewed on an individual basis).
Note: Convictions do not automatically disqualify candidates.
