What is a Retail Parts Pro? 🤔

A Retail Parts Pro is a professional-level sales position designed to support advanced functions within our DIY automotive parts business. The role requires:

  • Expert knowledge of store systems and automotive parts
  • Advanced identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers
  • Proficiency in sourcing parts from various channels such as special orders, FDO, and secondary sources
  • In-depth knowledge of store inventory management and maintenance processes

This is a full-time position focused on providing exceptional service and technical expertise.

Primary Responsibilities 🛠️

  • Deliver GAS2 selling experience during customer visits and phone inquiries
  • Achieve personal and store sales goals along with service objectives
  • Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installations, etc.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and store appearance
  • Assume key holder responsibilities such as task assignment, safety, opening/closing duties

Secondary Responsibilities ⚙️

  • Assist with store inventory processes including truck unloads, shoot outs, cycle counts, and back stock management
  • Maintain store cleanliness—floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot
  • Perform DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper replacements

  • Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently
  • Safety knowledge and adherence to protocols
  • Proficiency with inventory systems and store equipment
  • Strong parts and automotive system knowledge
  • Experience operating POS and parts lookup systems
  • Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services
  • ASE P2 certification or equivalent experience
  • Ability to recommend solutions, projects, and quality products
  • Advanced parts sourcing and lookup skills
  • Strong selling skills tailored for DIY customers

Essential Job Skills for Success 🔧

  • Comprehensive knowledge of automotive systems—engine, suspension, brakes, electronics, exhaust, etc.
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English (Spanish a plus)
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, parts catalogs, and instructions
  • Capability to complete the Parts Knowledge Assessment successfully
  • Accurate basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed

Prior Experience 🔎

Ideally, candidates will have:

  • 3-5 years of automotive parts experience
  • Proven sales success and experience fulfilling customer transactions

Education & Certifications 🎓📝

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • ASE certification preferred but not required
