What is a Retail Parts Pro? 🛠️
The Retail Parts Pro is a skilled sales associate capable of supporting complex functions within the DIY automotive business. This role requires advanced knowledge of store systems, automotive parts, and systems. It involves diagnosing, sourcing parts, and assisting customers with projects and troubleshooting. The position is full-time, with a comprehensive understanding of inventory management and store operations.
Primary Responsibilities 🎯
- Facilitate a seamless selling experience for DIY customers during visits and phone interactions
- Achieve personal and store sales goals alongside service objectives
- Manage DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper replacements
- Maintain high standards of customer service and store appearance
- Perform key holder duties including task assignment, safety, and opening/closing procedures
Secondary Responsibilities 🧹
- Assist with inventory processes like truck unloading, shoot outs, cycle counts, and back stock management
- Maintain store cleanliness — floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot upkeep
- Provide DIY services including battery installations, testing, and wiper replacements

Essential Skills for Success 🚀
- Solid understanding of automotive systems and diagnostics (engine, suspension, brakes, electrical, exhaust, etc.)
- Effective communication in English (Spanish a plus); ability to build relationships
- Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, parts catalogs, and instructions
- Completion of the Parts Knowledge Assessment
- Accurate math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, fractions, decimals)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Strong organizational skills
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed
Prior Experience 💼
- 3-5 years in automotive parts sales or related roles
- Proven success in fulfilling customer transactions and sales
Education, Certifications & Licenses 🎓
- Valid driver’s license required
- ASE certification preferred but not mandatory
Physical Demands 💪
Comfortable performing physical tasks associated with the role, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
