Position Overview 📋

As a Bilingual Resiliency Social Worker, you will deliver trauma-healing services at Sanar’s Wellness Center, focusing on individuals affected by interpersonal violence, including human trafficking, sexual violence, and domestic violence. Your role involves both short-term and long-term individual and group interventions.

Ideal candidates hold an LSW in NJ, with experience working directly with Spanish-speaking survivors. Knowledge of polyvictimization and complex trauma is essential. Additional certifications in trauma modalities or crisis response are a plus.

You should be organized, adaptable, capable of working independently and as part of a team, and comfortable managing grant requirements.

This role requires in-office presence in Newark at least 2 days per week, up to 4, based on client needs.

Essential Responsibilities 🌟

  • Provide trauma-conscious, empowerment-based mental health services: Use the Sanar Tri-Phasic Healing Model for individuals impacted by violence, in both English and Spanish.
  • Facilitate group therapy: Conduct therapeutic and psychoeducational groups in both languages.
  • Lead Community Healing workshops: Build trauma response skills within local communities.
  • Develop trauma-informed educational materials and protocols: Ensure internal documents are culturally specific, client-centered, and empowerment-driven.
  • Represent Sanar publicly: Attend community events and outreach activities as assigned.
  • Connect clients to resources: Manage referrals to community services, supporting clinical teams with case management.
  • Maintain detailed case notes: Comply with grant reporting, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Deliver clinical services: Apply appropriate trauma theory to assessment and counseling.
  • Compliance: Adhere to Board of Social Work Examiners regulations.
  • Supervision & Support: Supervise Clinical Resiliency Fellows or volunteers as needed.
  • Additional Program Support: Assist in other areas aligned with Sanar’s mission and vision.

Required Professional Competencies 🧠

  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in New Jersey
  • Minimum two years’ experience in trauma-related clinical services (internships count)
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with clinical proficiency in both
  • Demonstrated emotional stability, resilience, and social skills to foster therapeutic alliances
  • Experience in multicultural settings and sensitivity to diverse populations
  • Strong commitment to self-care and wellness practices
  • Alignment with Sanar’s mission, vision, and values
  • Proficiency with Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
