Established in 1909 through the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey, the school provides a cost-free, career-focused education, with over 12,000 graduates and ongoing expansion to serve more students.
Position Overview 🏠
We are hiring married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents. In this meaningful role, couples reside in on-campus student homes and provide essential care, guidance, supervision, and support for a group of approximately 8–13 students. Flex Houseparents are vital in creating a structured, family-like environment that nurtures students’ academic, emotional, and social growth, empowering them to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities 📋
- Providing daily supervision and mentorship
- Managing household routines and student schedules
- Administering medications and ensuring student wellness
- Driving students to activities and actively participating in developmental and recreational events
- Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel
- Overseeing household budgets and reporting
Work Schedule and Transition 🌟
Initially, Flex Houseparents support various student homes on a schedule of nine consecutive days on duty, followed by three days off. During weekdays, they have unscheduled time while students are at school. Over time, they transition into a Placed Houseparent role, living and working with the same group of students in their own home.
Benefits & Compensation 💰
- Salary: $44,768 per person (around $168,000 total per couple), including free housing, meals while on duty, utilities, and more

Qualifications ✔️
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Legally married couples for at least two years
- Both spouses aged 27 or older
- Maximum of three dependent children living in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty
- Pet restrictions: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and attending Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel (proselytizing prohibited)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and role-model qualities
