Founded in 1909 through the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey, the school is fully endowed and has graduated over 12,000 students. It continues to grow, providing a caring and structured environment that nurtures academic, emotional, and social development.

Position: Full-time Flex Houseparents ❤️

As Flex Houseparents, couples reside in on-campus student homes, offering guidance, supervision, and support to groups of approximately 8–13 students. Your role is vital in creating a family-like environment that helps students reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities 🎯

  • Providing daily supervision and mentorship
  • Managing household routines and student schedules
  • Administering medications and ensuring student wellness
  • Driving students to activities and planning recreational events
  • Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel
  • Overseeing budgeting and household reporting

Initially, Flex Houseparents support various student homes on a schedule of nine consecutive days on duty, followed by three days off. Over time, they transition into a Placed Houseparent role, living and working with the same group of students in their own home.

  • Salary: $44,768 per person (approximate total compensation of $168,000 per couple, including housing, meals on duty, utilities, and more)

Qualifications ✅

  • Experience working or volunteering with youth
  • Legally married couples for at least two years
  • Both spouses aged 27 or older
  • No more than three dependent children in the home
  • Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty
  • Pet restrictions: only fish and one approved breed dog
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student vans
  • Comfort leading daily devotions and attending Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; serving as role models for students
