Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Bilingual Linguist (Arabic/French) to join our mission-driven team. This role demands a language expert with the ability to handle complex linguistic tasks with precision, cultural insight, and awareness. Travel is expected both within the United States (CONUS) and outside the U.S. (OCONUS), at the customer’s discretion.

Your Responsibilities

• Translation: Translate digital and hard copy materials from Arabic and French into English and vice versa, capturing nuances, cultural references, and abstract concepts with accuracy.
• Interpretation: Provide consecutive and, occasionally, simultaneous interpretation with high fidelity and fluency, demonstrating understanding of dialects and cultural contexts.
• Transcription: Accurately transcribe audio or internet-based content, producing high-quality English reports and understanding dialectical variations.
• Gisting & Summarization: Extract and summarize key facts and concepts, prioritize critical information, and utilize reference materials effectively.

Security Clearance Requirements

• No clearance required to apply.
• Eligible to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (must be fully adjudicated before starting).
• Leidos sponsors candidates after they pass all required language tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 2-6 years of experience. Additional experience may substitute for degree requirements.
• Translation and/or interpretation degree highly preferred.
• Experience with Human Language Technology (HLT) considered a plus.
• Must pass Leidos-administered language proficiency tests at the primary level or above.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and online research tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting deployed contingency operations as a linguist.
• Familiarity with the U.S. Intelligence Community, military operations, or law enforcement environments.
• Ability to brief and communicate findings to stakeholders effectively.
• Proficiency in multiple languages is highly advantageous.

Additional Information

• Attendance and successful completion of sponsor-related training are mandatory.
• Pass a medical/laboratory and physical screening as required.
• Complete weapons training successfully.
• Travel both OCONUS and CONUS as needed, supporting a 24/7 operational schedule when traveling.
