About the Role 💬

Interpreters at TransPerfect Connect (TPC) play a crucial role in bridging language gaps, supporting essential services from healthcare to legal aid. This is a structured, call center-style position demanding professional-level bilingual fluency in English and Vietnamese. Your expertise in interpreting complex conversations—including idioms, specialized terminology, and emotionally charged content—will directly impact real-world outcomes.

• Strict adherence to interpretation protocols to ensure neutrality and confidentiality

Key Responsibilities 📝

• Provide consecutive interpretation services between English and Vietnamese across various industries (medical, legal, customer service, etc.)
• Ensure interpretation clarity, neutrality, and preservation of tone, intent, and emotion
• Maintain confidentiality and impartiality throughout all interactions
• Manage call flow professionally, intervening respectfully for clarification when needed
• Exhibit emotional intelligence during high-pressure or emotionally charged conversations
• Use note-taking, active listening, and memory retention techniques to manage longer exchanges
• Stay within the interpreter role, avoiding personal opinions or advice
• Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and feedback to improve performance
• Utilize basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) to log interactions and manage calls

Required Qualifications ✅

• High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
• Fluency in English and Vietnamese at B2+ proficiency or higher
• Ability to pass language and interpreting skills assessments
• Minimum of 6 months' experience in call centers, customer service, or interpreting
• Strong verbal communication, bilingual accuracy, and ethical decision-making skills
• Professional demeanor, integrity, and excellent time management
• Comfort with assertive communication and session control
• Basic computer skills: typing and MS Office navigation
• A quiet, distraction-free workspace supporting active listening
• Stable home internet connection (cable, DSL, or fiber; cellular data and hotspots are not permitted)

Identity & Certification Qualification 🔑

Candidates must provide valid government-issued photo identification throughout recruitment and training. Failure to do so will disqualify applicants.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Certification in medical, legal, or community interpreting (a strong plus)
• Experience with remote work tools and communication platforms

Remote Work Setup Requirements 💻

• Quiet, comfortable, and distraction-free environment
• Desktop or laptop computer (Windows or Mac) with at least 16GB RAM
• Reliable broadband internet (minimum 30 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload)
• Device no older than 5 years, with a functioning webcam
• Operating systems: Windows 10+ or macOS Big Sur (OS 11)+

This position is remote but structured, not flexible or 'self-paced.' Interpreters must be fully available at their workstation during scheduled shifts, handling continuous calls. Multitasking or personal activities during work hours are not permitted. Shifts follow a published, variable schedule, with breaks coordinated by our Workforce Management team.
