Role Overview

As a TPC interpreter, you'll facilitate accurate, culturally appropriate communication across industries such as healthcare, legal, and finance. We offer comprehensive paid training to launch your career as an Over-the-Phone (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreter (VRI).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide interpretation services between English and Cantonese across various industries (medical, legal, customer service, etc.)
  • Ensure accuracy, neutrality, and clarity, preserving tone, intent, and emotion
  • Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times
  • Manage call flow professionally, intervening when needed for clarification
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence during high-pressure or emotionally charged interactions
  • Apply techniques like note-taking, active listening, and memory retention for longer exchanges
  • Stay within your interpreter role, avoiding personal opinions or advice
  • Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Utilize basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) to manage calls and logs

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
  • Fluency in English and Cantonese, B2+ proficiency or higher
  • Pass a language and interpreting skills assessment
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience in call center, customer service, or interpreting roles
  • Strong communication skills and high ethical standards
  • Ability to think clearly and act professionally in fast-paced, emotional situations
  • Comfort with assertive communication and session control
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office
  • A quiet, distraction-free workspace for active listening
  • Reliable home internet connection (cable, DSL, or fiber; cellular not allowed)
  • Identity verification: Valid government-issued photo ID required during hiring process

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in medical, legal, or community interpreting (a strong plus)
  • Experience with remote work tools and platforms

Remote Work Requirements

  • Quiet, comfortable, distraction-free workspace
  • A desktop or laptop computer (Windows or Mac) with at least 16GB RAM
  • Broadband internet (minimum 30 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload)
  • Computer no older than 5 years, with a functioning webcam
  • Windows 10 or newer / macOS Big Sur (OS 11) or newer
