Role Overview

Our TransPerfect Connect (TPC) team seeks highly fluent, professional bilingual speakers (English > Cantonese) to support industries such as healthcare, legal, and financial services. We provide comprehensive, paid training to prepare you for roles as an Over-the-Phone (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreter (VRI).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive interpretation services between English and Cantonese across diverse industries (medical, legal, customer service, etc.)
• Ensure accuracy, clarity, and neutrality—preserving tone, intent, and emotion
• Maintain confidentiality and impartiality throughout all interactions
• Manage call flow professionally, intervening respectfully when clarification is needed
• Demonstrate emotional intelligence during high-pressure or emotionally charged conversations
• Apply active listening, note-taking, and memory techniques to handle extended exchanges
• Adhere strictly to interpretation protocols, avoiding personal opinions or advice
• Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and feedback to continually improve your skills
• Utilize basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) to log activity and manage calls

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
• Fluency in English and Cantonese (B2+ proficiency or higher)
• Ability to pass language and interpreting skills assessments
• At least 6 months of call center, customer service, or interpreting experience
• Strong verbal communication, bilingual accuracy, and ethical decision-making skills
• Ability to think clearly and act professionally in fast-paced, emotionally complex situations
• Excellent time management, responsibility, and integrity
• Comfort with assertive communication and session control
• Basic computer skills including typing and MS Office
• Quiet, distraction-free workspace for active listening and concentration
• Stable home internet connection (no cellular data or hotspots)
• Valid, government-issued photo ID (required for recruitment and training)

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in medical, legal, or community interpreting (a strong plus)
• Experience with remote work tools and communication platforms

Remote Work Requirements

• Quiet, comfortable, and distraction-free workspace
• Desktop or laptop computer (Windows or Mac) with at least 16GB RAM
• Broadband internet (minimum 30 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload; no cellular hotspots)
• Computer no older than 5 years with a functioning webcam
• Operating system: Windows 10 or newer / macOS Big Sur (OS 11) or newer
