Role And Purpose 🎯

  • Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in core academic subjects to help them reach their full potential.
  • Enable students to develop competencies and skills vital for functioning successfully in a global environment.

Qualifications ✅

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate for the subject/level assigned

Special Knowledge and Skills 🧠

  • Knowledge of assigned subjects and languages
  • General understanding of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior effectively
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual proficiency in French or Spanish preferred

Major Responsibilities And Duties 💼

Instructional Strategies 📚

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and campus instructional frameworks, providing evidence of preparation
  • Collaborate with partner teachers to plan activities supporting dual language and instructional goals
  • Design lessons accommodating diverse learning styles
  • Present subject matter according to TEA guidelines, board policies, and regulations
  • Create and utilize instructional strategies, activities, and materials tailored to students' needs
  • Use data to inform and adapt instruction for individual students, including those in gifted, bilingual/ESL, or with 504 plans
  • Assess student learning styles and adjust instructional methods accordingly
  • Coordinate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEPs
  • Set instructional goals in alignment with district requirements
  • Implement dual language program models and maintain records on language acquisition
  • Participate in extended program activities when needed
  • Supervise teacher aides and volunteers
  • Integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning

Student Growth and Development 🌟

  • Assist students in analyzing and improving study habits
  • Conduct ongoing assessments, both formative and summative
  • Support extracurricular activities and serve as a positive role model
  • Champion a supportive and inclusive classroom environment

Classroom Management and Organization 🏫

  • Create a safe and conducive learning environment
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with policies and IEPs
  • Ensure safety of students, staff, and materials
  • Assist in selecting instructional resources

Communication 🗣️

  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents, students, staff, and community members
  • Utilize various media to showcase student work and maintain engagement
  • Develop professional rapport with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Communicate information clearly and effectively

Professional Growth and Development 📈

  • Stay current with instructional strategies, language acquisition, and content knowledge
  • Participate in ongoing staff development activities
  • Attend at least 3 days of specialized professional development beyond district requirements, focused on dual language education and culture
  • Complete the TEA-mandated Reading Academy for K-3 teachers of record

Miscellaneous 🔧

  • Comply with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Prepare and maintain required reports and documentation
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as needed
  • Participate in school events to promote student success
  • Maintain a professional and responsible demeanor adhering to the Professional Code of Ethics

Working Conditions ⚠️

  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Perform physical activities such as standing, bending, and moving classroom materials
  • Travel occasionally within district or nationally as required
  • Adhere to safety protocols at all times
