Your Role as a Bilingual Flight Attendant ✈️
Beyond standard safety and service responsibilities, you will serve as a linguistic and cultural bridge:
- Make public announcements in Japanese and English
- Assist passengers with customs forms and documentation
- Support service recovery to resolve passenger issues
- Collaborate effectively within a multilingual crew
Typical Day-to-Day Activities
This role centers around long-haul international flights, requiring flexibility for multiday trips, extended layovers, and unconventional hours:
- Night shift departures 🌙
- Weekend operations
- On-call support for international flights (reserve and assigned schedules)
Training & Onboarding
Requirements include:
- At least 2+ years of customer service experience
- 6.5-week paid training program in Houston, including a language proficiency test
- Experience as a flight attendant is preferred but not required
Career Progression & Compensation
United Airlines offers a competitive starting wage, with annual base pay estimated from $50,000 to $80,000, including language pay. Benefits include:
