We currently have an immediate Part-Time opportunity for an Adult ESL Instructor in Paterson, NJ.

Schedule

• Monday through Thursday: 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
• Saturday and/or Sunday: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans and deliver high-quality, creative classroom instruction following UCEDA's standard format and materials.
• Adopt a developmental approach to learning, coaching students based on their individual needs and fostering self-expression for a rewarding learning experience.
• Monitor student progress by tracking attendance and performance, addressing challenges appropriately, and supporting homework and tutoring activities.
• Report students’ academic progress regularly to ensure mastery of skills.
• Employ diverse activities such as songs, stories, media, and structured games to motivate and engage students.
• Collaborate with the School Manager and administrative team.
• Participate in training sessions and seminars provided by UCEDA leadership.
• Model professionalism by complying with school policies and setting a positive example.

Required Qualifications

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in teaching, training, coaching, or motivating others to achieve goals
• Strong common sense: ability to connect with others, interpret behavioral cues, adapt swiftly, and respond appropriately
• Excellent interpersonal skills with cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity
• Motivated, creative, organized, patient, and enthusiastic about student success
• Solid understanding of grammar and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Preferred: CELTA, TEFL, TESL, or equivalent ESL teaching certification
