Community Maternal Child Health Worker

💼 Job Summary

The Department is seeking qualified Community Maternal Child Health Workers to support community engagement, education, and connections to health and wellness resources for mothers, children, and families. This role promotes positive parent-child attachment, healthy child and family development, and strengthens family resilience. 🌱👩‍👧‍👦

🎯 Key Responsibilities

• 🤝 Engage families in the community to promote maternal child health programs
• 🏠 Initiate and maintain contact with families at home and in community settings
• 🛡️ Facilitate and coordinate programs such as car seat safety, safe sleep, and diaper banks
• 📚 Provide resources, referrals, and advocacy for families
• 🤝 Work with community partners to address family needs

🛠️ Required Skills and Qualifications

• 📝 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• 🗣️ Fluency in English and Spanish (mandatory)
• 💻 Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• 🧸 Knowledge of infant and child development, parent-child attachment, maternal-infant health, and child abuse & neglect dynamics
• 🤝 Ability to maintain professional boundaries while working with families and children
• 🎓 Commitment to completing all required VBDPH training
• 🎯 Combination of education beyond high school and/or relevant experience totaling at least 4 years in human services or public health
• 📝 Demonstrated Spanish proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking (as required)

• 🌎 Previous public health experience
• 🌍 Experience working with culturally diverse populations
• 📝 Strong Spanish language proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking
