Goddard Riverside Community Center Is Hiring A Bilingual Case Manager

Join our team at Goddard Riverside’s Manhattanville (MNVL) Resource Center—a community-focused hub dedicated to empowering low-income residents of West Harlem through vital benefits and services. We are seeking a compassionate and proactive individual to support outreach, case management, and community engagement efforts.

Program Overview

The MNVL Resource Center is a social service hub located within the MNVL NYCHA development in West Harlem. Dedicated solely to its residents, the center helps low-income individuals and families access entitlements, benefits, and resources. Services offered include benefits screening, financial counseling, legal consultation, and referrals to citywide support services.

Position Summary

Responsible for engaging residents through outreach, screening, assisting with benefit applications, and making referrals to community and citywide support services.

Schedule & Salary

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm (Occasional evenings/weekends)
  • Salary Range: $41,000–$45,000

Starting salary will depend on candidate experience and qualifications.

Roles & Responsibilities

Case Management

  • Conduct benefit screenings for low-income individuals and families
  • Assist clients with applying for benefits from local, state, and federal agencies
  • Interview clients to assess social service needs and facilitate referrals to legal, financial, educational, and other resources
  • Act as an advocate and liaison between clients and community organizations or government agencies
  • Support clients seeking housing by helping with applications and referrals
  • Assist in eviction prevention and maintain detailed case notes
  • Track service outcomes and support data collection for reports

Outreach Services

  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator on outreach initiatives to engage tenants
  • Coordinate on and off-site activities, including scheduling, space, transportation, and meals for events
  • Organize community-building events and activities within the MNVL complex
  • Represent the Resource Center at community events, meetings, and with local organizations
  • Support special projects as needed

Resource Center Team Member

  • Attend staff and community meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions
  • Contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement
  • Assist in maintaining office space and support clients visiting the center
  • Collaborate with team members on outreach and marketing efforts

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational

  • High school diploma required
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required

Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience working with low-income populations
  • Knowledge of government benefits and eligibility criteria
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team-oriented mindset

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to learn and use electronic databases such as Single Stop

Physical & Work Environment

  • Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs
  • Frequent walking and standing
  • On-site work within West Harlem at the MNVL NYCHA development
  • Participation in seasonal outdoor outreach events
