About the Role
This strategic leadership position focuses on driving market growth, cultivating key customer relationships, and leading commercial activities for utility-scale and C&I (Commercial & Industrial) energy storage projects. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy storage solutions in Japan. 🚀
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial growth strategy for the BESS business across Japan
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within utility-scale and C&I energy storage markets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, utilities, EPCs, investors, and strategic partners
- Lead commercial negotiations, contract discussions, and project structuring activities
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies aligned with regional business objectives
- Collaborate closely with technical, engineering, product, and project delivery teams to support successful project execution
- Monitor market trends, policy developments, and competitive activity within Japan’s energy storage sector
- Support tender submissions, commercial proposals, and customer presentations
- Drive revenue growth and market penetration while ensuring robust commercial governance
- Represent the business at industry events, conferences, and customer engagements throughout Japan 🎤
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Energy, or a related discipline
- Proven commercial leadership experience within the renewable energy or energy storage sector
- Strong understanding of the Japan energy market, especially BESS and grid-scale energy infrastructure
- Successful track record of developing and closing high-value BESS projects in Japan
- Existing network of developers, utilities, EPCs, or renewable energy stakeholders in Japan
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and business development capabilities
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, international environment
- Fluent in Japanese and possess business-level English communication skills 🗣️
- Experience working within cross-functional and multicultural teams is preferred
