Position Overview

This role involves handling residential real estate transactions from term sheet to closing, assisting clients such as sellers, purchasers, and borrowers. Key responsibilities include conducting legal due diligence—reviewing coop/condo financial statements, board minutes, offering plans, titles, and surveys. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent judgment, and strong analytical, writing, and communication skills. 🏢

Responsibilities

Real Estate Attorney

  • Manage residential real estate transactions from inception to closing
  • Conduct legal due diligence by reviewing financial statements, board minutes, offering plans, titles, and surveys
  • Assist with negotiations and client communications
  • Provide legal guidance on property documentation and transaction procedures

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice law in New York
  • 1-3 years of substantial experience in all facets of real estate transactions
  • Strong negotiating, analytical, and research skills
  • Excellent judgment and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time independently
  • Fluent in both English and Chinese (Mandarin)

Full Job Description for Real Estate Legal Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys throughout all phases of real estate transactions
  • Prepare initial drafts of Contracts of Sale
  • Engage professionally with clients, attorneys, banks, and title companies regarding title issues, mortgage commitments, and closings
  • Draft legal notices and correspondence
  • Enter data accurately
  • Schedule closings and organize client files
  • Maintain records, files, and filings such as ACRIS forms and deeds post-closing

Requirements

  • Previous legal assistant experience is a plus
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple matters efficiently
  • Fluent in Mandarin Chinese
