🎉 About the Role

As an Assistant Editor in our Spanish-language Children’s and Young Adult Division, you'll play a crucial role in selecting and developing engaging titles that connect education and storytelling for students, educators, and families across the U.S. Reporting directly to the Literary Director, this bilingual position combines editorial excellence with a passion for literacy and education.

🌟 Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and acquire Spanish-language titles aligned with the interests of educators, parents, and young readers in the U.S.
  • Read and evaluate manuscripts, produce editorial reports, and collaborate with authors and illustrators throughout the publishing process.
  • Develop classroom resources including catalogs, reading guides, and lesson plans to support educational needs.
  • Review and manage metadata to ensure accurate and discoverable content.
  • Oversee project timelines from acquisition to publication, ensuring smooth workflow.
  • Craft compelling copy for book covers, back flaps, and marketing materials.
  • Assist the Literary Director with project management, author correspondence, and presentation of titles.
  • Stay informed on trends in children’s and YA literature and educational curricula to inform editorial strategies.
  • Support Sales and Marketing teams in outreach to schools and libraries.

📝 Qualifications

  • Native Spanish speaker with excellent command of both Spanish and English.
  • Teaching experience in elementary or middle schools within the U.S. is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of literacy development and classroom needs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Collaborative and creative, with a passion for nurturing young readers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

💰 Compensation & Location

This full-time position offers a salary of $56,000.00 annually. All roles are eligible for annual profit awards or bonuses based on company performance.

The role is based in Miami, FL, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring some in-office presence. Candidates within a commutable distance are encouraged to apply.
