Located in Brooklyn, NY, our studio specializes in a variety of art forms including paintings, digital art, and sculpture, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary expressions.

🌍 Role Overview

The Art Researcher will work closely with our artists to incorporate art historical, cultural, and philosophical contexts into each artwork. Your research will help shape clear concepts, narratives, artist statements, exhibition texts, and detailed descriptions, supporting both the creative process and external communication.

💼 Key Responsibilities

📚 Research & Context Development

  • Conduct in-depth research on art history, philosophy, and cultural contexts aligned with each project’s concept
  • Build connections to past works, artists, and historical movements
  • Assist with research on current art trends, market insights, and collector perspectives as needed

✍️ Concept & Narrative Writing

  • Translate research findings into clear and compelling concept narratives for internal and external use
  • Support the creation of artist statements, exhibition texts, and artwork descriptions

🤝 Artist Collaboration & Research Archive

  • Work closely with artists to develop and refine creative ideas and directions
  • Develop and maintain an internal research archive for future reference and reuse

✅ Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art History or equivalent experience/knowledge
  • Strong understanding of art history; familiarity with both Western and Eastern art is preferred
  • Excellent ability to structure and articulate abstract ideas
  • Proficiency in translating research into practical concepts for artworks
  • Strong communication skills and capacity for deep dialogue with artists
  • Fluent writing skills in English and Japanese
  • Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English

💼 Employment Details & Benefits

  • 💰 Salary: $60,000–$70,000 (DOE)
  • 🕘 Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • 🍱 One-hour lunch break
