Job Description

Leidos is seeking skilled Arabic (Tunisian, Libyan, or Algerian) Translators to perform a broad range of activities in processing materials and engaging in situations requiring professional linguistic capabilities. We sponsor candidates for security clearances, with an emphasis on reliable, precise, and nuanced language skills.

Key Responsibilities

Translation

• Accurately translate reports and texts in electronic and hardcopy formats, capturing not only facts but also abstract language, implications, and nuances.
• Interpret geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural elements while adhering to target language norms and subject-specific expression.

Interpretation

• Provide accurate consecutive interpretation, with occasional requests for simultaneous interpretation.
• Have a strong understanding of one or more regional dialects.

Transcription

• Review audio or internet-based materials and transcribe with a high degree of accuracy and expression.
• Possess excellent English written communication skills for report preparation.
• Understand regional dialects.

Gisting and Summarizing

• Identify and succinctly summarize factual points and abstract concepts.
• Triaging documentation to isolate pertinent, nuanced information.
• Master the use of reference materials and demonstrate proficiency with MS Office and web research skills.

Security Clearance & Training

• Attendance and passing of all sponsor-related training are mandatory.
• No clearance is required to apply initially; security clearance is sponsored after successful testing.
• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required before starting work.
• Applicants cannot begin work without fully adjudicated security clearance.

Education & Experience Requirements

• BA/BS degree or equivalent military training
• 2 to 15+ years of related work experience

Language Testing

All candidates must pass English and Arabic language tests administered by Leidos or an approved vendor.

Desired Skills

• Experience supporting contingency operations in deployed roles
• Knowledge of U.S. Intelligence, military, cryptologic, or law enforcement environments
• Proficiency in multiple languages is highly valued
• Effective oral and written communication skills in Target language and English

Travel & Residency

Travel OCONUS is required for some languages unless specified otherwise. Candidates must be available to support the contract 24/7 during travel.

Compensation

Pay Range: $72,150.00 – $130,425.00
