About the Position

🌐 The ideal candidate will demonstrate cultural competency, supporting faculty, management, and students from varied backgrounds, including those with differing abilities, AB 540 students, DACA recipients, Foreign Residents, VACA participants, and Continuing Education students. This role involves fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment to meet the diverse needs of the college community.

Class Summary

Under supervision, performs specialized clerical work requiring detailed knowledge of departmental procedures, policies, and precedents. Responsibilities include managing complex tasks independently, handling special projects, and assisting in research and report preparation. May lead and coordinate lower-grade clerks, interpret rules, and interpret office workflow.

Representative Duties

  • Coordinate processing, recording, and filing of administrative documents
  • Maintain cost and complex attendance records
  • Handle duties involving departmental knowledge impacting the public
  • Develop district procedures and policies
  • Manage public relations and coordinate data for projects
  • Lead clerical assistants and maintain schedules and calendars

Organizational Relations

This position reports to a designated supervisor or director and may oversee workflow for lower-grade clerks and address procedural questions.

Qualifications

Training and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent plus four years of progressively responsible clerical experience, including at least one year of independent responsibility.

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of office machines, filing systems, and modern office practices
  • Familiarity with college rules, regulations, and policies
  • Ability to make decisions per laws and regulations, establish effective public relations
  • Prepare accurate financial and statistical reports
  • Operate office equipment, including computers and word processing applications

Additional Qualifications

Demonstrated sensitivity and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students, staff, and community members.
