Function of the Position
The adjunct faculty member will prepare and teach Italian courses, develop educational materials, and assess student learning. Courses may be assigned at the Brighton and/or Downtown Campus, extension sites, or delivered online, in hybrid, day, or evening formats. The successful candidate will report to the Chair of the World Languages and Cultures Department and bring passion and mentorship to MCC students.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach Italian courses and evaluate student performance following college guidelines 📚
- Serve as liaison and mentor for instructors of college-level dual enrollment courses for high school students 🤝
- Prepare lesson plans and create engaging instructional materials 📝
- Maintain meticulous attendance records, grades, and related materials 📊
- Develop innovative pedagogical approaches to enhance learning 🧠
- Engage in ongoing professional development within pedagogical and academic disciplines 📈
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the department chair (as appropriate)

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Italian or a related field from an accredited institution 🎓
- Bilingual proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Italian 🗣️
- Availability for daytime teaching and work hours ⏰
- Demonstrated commitment to the community college philosophy 💖
- Proficiency with technological tools and platforms 💻
- Interest or experience in developing and teaching online courses 🌐
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of teaching Italian as a second language experience 📅
- Knowledge of diverse teaching strategies and approaches 🧪
- Understanding of technology’s role as an instructional tool 💡
- Experience with computerized student record management systems 🖥️
Additional Information
Pay Rate for Fall 2025 & Spring 2026: Ranges from $1,217 to $1,484 per contact hour, based on adjunct rank.
Remote Work Policy: Remote work outside New York State is not permitted due to tax and regulatory reasons, with limited exceptions approved under specific circumstances.
