GitLab Is Hiring An Account Executive

Join GitLab as an Account Executive 🚀

GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, trusted by over 50 million users and more than half of the Fortune 100. It empowers organizations worldwide to boost developer productivity, streamline operations, enhance security, and accelerate digital transformation—delivering better, more secure software faster.

About This Role

As an Account Executive, you will be the primary link between GitLab and our customers. You'll work with teams of up to 4,000 members to help them adopt and expand the comprehensive AI‑powered DevSecOps platform. From managing a diverse pipeline of opportunities to guiding both small, agile teams and complex projects, you'll be instrumental in transforming how organizations deliver software.

Reporting to a Regional Sales Director and collaborating with business development, marketing, and technical teams, you'll oversee the entire sales process: shaping customer journeys, defining buying criteria, maintaining an evidence-based pipeline, and sharing insights on wins and losses. Your first year will focus on building trusted relationships, achieving meaningful business outcomes, and voicing customer feedback to continually improve our processes.

What You'll Do

  • Own Your Book of Business: Manage prospects and existing accounts, from new leads to expanding current relationships.
  • Full Sales Cycle: Lead discovery, solution alignment, negotiation, and closing deals.
  • Communicate GitLab’s Value: Clearly articulate our DevSecOps platform's benefits, aligning them with customer goals.
  • Analyze & Share Insights: Study wins and losses to identify root causes, sharing lessons with teams.
  • Maintain Accurate Data: Document buying criteria, processes, and next steps to ensure a reliable pipeline.
  • Contribute to Improvements: Help refine sales strategies by documenting best practices and opportunities for growth.
  • Provide Leadership: Guide teams across different sales phases, working closely with technical and customer success teams.
  • Be the Voice of the Customer: Share product feedback and ideas through our public issue tracker.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven Sales Success: Experience in software sales, preferably in a commercial market, managing a diverse portfolio.
  • Customer Guidance Skills: Ability to lead customers through the buying journey—defining criteria, mapping processes, and setting next steps.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
  • Data & Pipeline Management: Skilled in documenting and maintaining accurate pipeline data based on evidence.
  • Analytical Skills: Experience conducting win/loss and root-cause analyses to improve team performance.
  • Negotiation & Presentation: Capable of closing opportunities through effective discussions with various stakeholders.
  • Interest & Knowledge in Tech: Enthusiasm for GitLab, open source, familiar with Git, development tools, or application lifecycle management is a plus.
  • Alignment & Willingness to Travel: Embrace GitLab’s values and be open to travel as needed.
  • Fluent Italian: Must be fluent in Italian.
