Hamilton College Is Hiring A Visiting Assistant Professor
Academic Opportunity: Visiting Arabic Language & Cultural Studies Position at Hamilton College
Hamilton College invites applications for a one-year visiting faculty position in Arabic language and cultural studies, with the potential for renewal, starting July 1, 2026. This role offers a wonderful chance to engage with students and contribute to interdisciplinary research within a vibrant academic community.
Position Details
- Department: German, Russian, Italian, and Arabic
- Duration: One-year appointment, renewal possible for a second year
- Start Date: July 1, 2026
- Teaching Load: Five courses per academic year
- Salary Range: $77,900 – $80,400 (9-month base)
Responsibilities
The candidate will:
- Teach courses in Arabic literature or cultural studies
- Teach Modern Standard Arabic language courses
- Contribute to the College's program in Middle East/Islamicate Worlds Studies
- Develop engaging, real-world language learning experiences emphasizing a communicative approach
Candidate Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Arabic
- Record of excellence in Arabic language instruction using communicative methods
- Open specialization and period focus
- Interdisciplinary research interests encouraged, with possible contributions to Middle East/Islamicate Studies
- Applicants with ABD will be considered; Ph.D. preferred
